چکیده

Kernel logistic PLS” (KL-PLS) is a new tool for supervised nonlinear dimensionality reduction and binary classification. The principles of KL-PLS are based on both PLS latent variables construction and learning with kernels. The KL-PLS algorithm can be seen as a supervised dimensionality reduction (complexity control step) followed by a classification based on logistic regression. The algorithm is applied to 11 benchmark data sets for binary classification and to three medical problems. In all cases, KL-PLS proved its competitiveness with other state-of-the-art classification methods such as support vector machines. Moreover, due to successions of regressions and logistic regressions carried out on only a small number of uncorrelated variables, KL-PLS allows handling high-dimensional data. The proposed approach is simple and easy to implement. It provides an efficient complexity control by dimensionality reduction and allows the visual inspection of data segmentation. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Multiclass Probabilistic Kernel Discriminant Analysis

Kernel discriminant analysis (KDA) is an effective approach for supervised nonlinear dimensionality reduction. Probabilistic models can be used with KDA to improve its robustness. However, the state of the art of such models could only handle binary class problems, which confines their application in many real world problems. To overcome this limitation, we propose a novel nonparametric probabi...

Kernel PLS-SVC for Linear and Nonlinear Classification

A new method for classification is proposed. This is based on kernel orthonormalized partial least squares (PLS) dimensionality reduction of the original data space followed by a support vector classifier. Unlike principal component analysis (PCA), which has previously served as a dimension reduction step for discrimination problems, orthonormalized PLS is closely related to Fisher’s approach t...

Constructing Orthogonal Latent Features for Arbitrary Loss

A boosting framework for constructing orthogonal features targeted to a given loss function is developed. Combined with techniques from spectral methods such as PCA and PLS, an orthogonal boosting algorithm for linear hypothesis is used to efficiently construct orthogonal latent features selected to optimize the given loss function. The method is generalized to construct orthogonal nonlinear fe...

PLS dimension reduction for classification of microarray data

PLS dimension reduction is known to give good prediction accuracy in the context of classification with high-dimensional microarray data. In this paper, PLS is compared with some of the best state-of-the-art classification methods. In addition, a simple procedure to choose the number of components is suggested. The connection between PLS dimension reduction and gene selection is examined and a ...

مدل ترکیبی تحلیل مؤلفه اصلی احتمالاتی بانظارت در چارچوب کاهش بعد بدون اتلاف برای شناسایی چهره

In this paper, we first proposed the supervised version of probabilistic principal component analysis mixture model. Then, we consider a learning predictive model with projection penalties, as an approach for dimensionality reduction without loss of information for face recognition. In the proposed method, first a local linear underlying manifold of data samples is obtained using the supervised...
